چکیده

The paper presents the properties of sensorless drives with permanent magnet synchronous machines with respect to dynamics and overload capability. A main aspect is the low speed range including standstill. Several drives are presented, which have already been in series applications or are going to be used in series. As examples, a medical application (20 mNm / 40.000 rpm drive), a traction application (3.000 Nm / 1.000 rpm drive) and a drive of production industry (2 Nm / 4.000 rpm drive) are presented. All of them are able to provide full starting torque or even overload. Hence, very robust and economical systems can be realized, which have already been used in practice. Measurements and statistical evaluations of sensorless-obtained position and speed information are presented. A comparison with reference sensors is performed. Furthermore, highly dynamic starting behaviour and overload properties (e.g. with 3 times rated current) are discussed.
